Tonight, history will be made. As Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepts the Democratic nomination to become the next President of the United States, we are witnessing a moment that transcends politics—it is a testament to the resilience, brilliance, and power of women of color in leadership.
For me, as a fierce advocate for leadership and the immense value that women of color bring to the table, this moment is nothing short of monumental.
Kamala Harris standing on that stage is more than just a political milestone; it’s a powerful affirmation of what is possible when we lean into our identities, own our voices, and use our influence for good. Her journey, like so many of ours, has been filled with challenges, triumphs, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. As women of color, we know all too well the obstacles we face in leadership. Yet, Kamala’s rise is a clear message that our leadership is not only valid but essential.
The Democratic National Convention this year has been a showcase of what happens when women of color step into the spotlight and unapologetically own their space. From the powerful speeches to the poignant moments of reflection, the women who have graced the main stage have shown the world the true impact of diverse leadership. This is what happens when we lean in, embrace our full selves, and boldly use our voices.
In this moment, I can’t help but think of Esther 4:14: “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
This is our time. As women of color leaders, this is our moment to rise. But to rise, we must be in position. We must be ready to take up the mantle of leadership, to support one another, and to ensure that this tide lifts all boats.
This isn’t just about one woman or one moment; it’s about all of us stepping into our power and leading with courage, confidence, and the bravado that we know is within us.
I encourage each of you to tune into tonight’s historic moment. Take it all in—let it inspire you, challenge you, and push you to find your own courage and confidence. No matter where we sit on the political spectrum, we can all draw strength from the example set by Kamala Harris and the many other women of color who have shown us what is possible.
This moment also reminds me of the vision I have for the POWER Tribe—a community where women of color, can come together to grow, to lead, and to make a profound impact on the world. The POWER Tribe is about creating space for us to rise, to develop our leadership, and to ensure that we are in position when these pivotal moments arise.
We are a tribe that believes in the power of our voice, the importance of our influence, and the necessity of our leadership.
Let tonight be a reminder that we are witnesses to history, and more importantly, that we are part of it. This is our time to rise, to lead, and to ensure that our voices are heard and our presence is felt. The courage, confidence, and bravado we will witness tonight are not just for Kamala—they are for all of us.
Let’s rise together. Let’s lead together. And let’s make history together.
In Light, Love and POWER
